Library instruction on research and information literacy skills is available for all Salve Regina University classes. Librarians collaborate with faculty to create customized instruction targeting research-based assignments.

Instruction in discipline-specific research skills is available for all majors. Examples of selected specific topics are listed below.  Librarians are glad to customize sessions to meet the requirements of your assignment or research topic.

Art and Art History

  • Locating high-quality images of art, architecture, crafts, and textiles
  • Utilizing ArtStor’s tools to view, present and manage images

Criminal Justice & Criminology

  • Understanding the news environment
  • Evaluating sources on the open web
  • Finding government data
  • Finding and evaluating reports and data from think tanks

  • Journal articles on ADJ topics in databases such as Sage Premier or EBSCO Academic Search Complete
  • Importance of law review articles and where to find them

English, Communications & Media

International Relations

  • Using advanced search capabilities in the library's article databases, Google, and Google Scholar

  • Research strategies and recommended research tools for specific research questions

Psychology and Behavior Analysis

  • Using disciplinary databases such as PsycInfo, PsycArticles, and Sage Journals to locate scholarly research and review articles on relevant topics in psychology and behavioral science.

Religious and Theological Studies

  • Research skills and terminology appropriate for the discipline, using our new database ATLA Religion
  • Thematic topics may include the seven deadly sins, Biblical commentary, Apocrypha, Satan, as well as interdisciplinary topics such as religious views on medical ethics or war

Social Work

  • Explore advanced search strategies and evaluate information from Google Scholar
