History: Requesting Items

Research guide for history. Includes information for finding primary and secondary resources in books, eBooks, databases, journals, and digital collections.

Interlibrary Loan

You may find that your topic is so narrow that you need to request items from other libraries.  As a Salve student, you are able to request items from either our library consortium HELIN or through interlibrary loan, which allows you to borrow books from non-HELIN libraries.  To request an item through HELIN or interlibrary loan, simply select the request button under "Availability" on an item record, as shown below.

*A couple notes: First, try to request from HELIN, if available.  HELIN libraries tend to be much closer to Salve, allowing the resources to arrive more quickly.  Second, since archival materials are often rare and valuable, they are not available through interlibrary loan.
