RI Division of Fish and Wildlife The Division of Fish and Wildlife (DFW) shares management responsibility for more than 60,000 acres of land distributed across 15 towns and all counties and is responsible for managing thousands of species of wildlife, including freshwater species.

Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council is an agency whose primary responsibility is for "the preservation, protection, development and where possible the restoration of the coastal areas of the state via the implementation of its integrated and comprehensive coastal management plans and the issuance of permits for work with the coastal zone of the state."
