Ernest Jolicoeur, M.F.A.

Associate Professor & Gallery Director | Art and Art History

Ernest Jolicoeur joined the Department of Art and Art History as an adjunct instructor in 2007, and in 2015 became an Associate Professor of Studio Art in Painting. He has also been Director of the Dorrance H. Hamilton Gallery at Salve Regina University since 2011. His paintings have been exhibited nationally and internationally, most recently as part of Striking the Set in Newport, R.I. Mr. Jolicoeur earned his B.F.A. from Rhode Island College and his M.F.A. from the Yale School of Art. He has won several honors and awards, including three Rhode Island State Council on the Arts Fellowships in Drawing (2013 and 2014) and Painting (2019).

Anthony F. Mangieri, Ph.D.

Associate Professor | Art and Art History

Dr. Anthony F. Mangieri is an Associate Professor of Art History and Coordinator of the Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies program. He holds a Ph.D. in Greek and Roman art from Emory University, as well as an M.A. from Hunter College and a B.A. from Pace University. His research primarily focuses on Greek vase-painting, iconography, Classical mythology, dress and adornment, and issues of gender and sexuality in the ancient world. He is the author of Virgin Sacrifice in Classical Art: Women, Agency, and the Trojan War (Routledge, 2018) and is currently working on his second book, tentatively titled Epic Dress: Textile Ornament and Meaning in Greek Art.
